With 35+ years of experience in petroleum systems and environmental safety, Geo Petroleum helps businesses across Houston, Texas, and the Southeast identify, manage, and mitigate environmental risks before they become costly problems.
Our environmental consultants in Houston combine field-tested expertise with data-driven analysis to help you maintain compliance, protect assets, and safeguard your community.
When you operate a fueling site, industrial facility, or municipal yard, environmental risks are always present — from soil contamination and groundwater leaks to stormwater runoff and regulatory exposure. Ignoring these issues can lead to fines, cleanup costs, or permanent site damage.
At Geo Petroleum, we specialize in Environmental Risk Assessments (ERA) that identify potential hazards, evaluate environmental impact, and implement solutions before they escalate.
Whether you’re opening a new site, expanding operations, or maintaining an existing facility, we provide detailed assessments that keep your business safe, compliant, and proactive.
Still wondering what is an environmental risk assessment? It’s the process of identifying and managing environmental threats before they harm your operations, employees, or community — and that’s exactly what Geo Petroleum does best.

GEO’s environmental site assessments (ESAs) range in scope from preliminary site evaluation to full-scale environmental studies and remedial corrective action. Our services adapt to client needs, site characteristics, and local or federal regulations — helping clients make sound business and financial decisions associated with contaminated properties.

A Phase I Environmental Site Assessment focuses on identifying existing or potential concerns on a property that may indicate an environmental risk. The assessment will identify these concerns through methods such as review of regulatory agency information, aerial photographs, historical documents, interviews with previous property owners, and a physical inspection of the property.

While a Phase I ESA is a preliminary investigation, a Phase II Environmental Site Assessment may be required if information collected during a Phase I ESA indicates the possible presence of contamination or if a more in-depth investigation is required. A Phase II ESA typically involves the drilling of exploratory soil borings to obtain soil and/or groundwater samples, which are analyzed at an accredited laboratory.

The Petroleum Storage Tank (PST) division of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) manages Leaking Petroleum Storage Tank (LPST) sites through a risk-based corrective action program. This process analyzes soil, groundwater, and air samples to evaluate at-risk receptors such as drinking water wells or surface water. Sites undergo monitoring and corrective action until all regulatory limits are met.
